The civil society group, Community Empowerment for progress Organization, has welcomed the president’s call on stakeholders to the peace talks to join the government consultations.
The government declined to sign the compromise peace agreement last week and requested for two weeks to consult on some issues.
They include the system of governance, demilitarization of Juba and the reintegration of forces during the transitional period.
CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani says the move will help bring lasting peace to South Sudan.
“We hope that this consultations are on the road to achieve a peace that will take this country back to stability,” he said.
Last week, the spokesperson of the government delegation to the peace talks, Michael Makuei, said the citizens will determine whether the government will sign the peace agreement.
