Robbers risk arrest as Boda-boda riders get GPS tracking devises

The Boda-boda Association in Central Equatoria State has introduced tracking devices to enhance motorists’ safety and allow prompt emergency service response.

Levi Abugo said this on Tuesday after meeting with the state governor to raise facing the industry including cases of theft of motorbikes.

Abugo said the state governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony unveiled plans to mainstream the boda-boda sector as well as guarantee the safety of the riders through security vigilance.

He said according to Adil, boda-boda is key to job creation for the youth.

Abugo added that Governor Adil also welcomed the recent initiative to digitize the Boda-Boda sector and reiterated his administration’s support.

“We assured the governor that we are ready to deliver the necessary services to the Boda Boda Association. So we came up with the Tracking device company so that no boda-boda rider will face any challenges,

“And as you observed last week we tried with a company to install trackers on motorbikes according to the conditions the boda-riders go through.”

Meanwhile, Thomas Lokudu the Chief Executive Officer of Care Boda said “We are very happy today meeting the governor to raise to him the situation that our riders face out there and the services Care Boda is going to give to all the riders…”

The State Minister of Roads and Bridges Mawa Moses reaffirmed his ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Boda-Boda Association including its potential partners to create an enabling environment for the successful conduct of their activities.
