South Sudanese man fatally stabbed in Australia
A South Sudanese migrant was stabbed to death in Australia’s Melbourne City during a party on Sunday afternoon, according to Australian media.
9 News Melbourne reported that the victim, Sammy Baker is an insurance worker, who had migrated from South Sudan to the pacific country.
He was stabbed at around 4 PM Australia time, (approximately 12:00 PM Central Africa Time) after attending a party at a house in Hampton East.
Mr. Baker, 33, later died from the knife injuries shortly after he was rushed to hospital, according to the local media.
It was also reported that three people are in custody over the incident.
His family and friends, who spoke to the media remember Baker, as an intelligent man, who lives with his mother in Ashburton.
According to a 2016 census, there were about 7,699 South Sudan-born people in Australia, with 2,750 living in Victoria, 1,430 in Queensland and 1,201 in Western Australia.
