The Commissioner of Pibor in Jonglei State reports that the security situation is his county is calm following the signing of a peace agreement between David Yau Yau-Cobra Faction and the government last week.

He says the only challenge facing people is that they have no seeds and agricultural tools for cultivation as rainy season has started.

Joshua Kony said that schools have opened in Pibor and the locals have engaged in agricultural activities:

Joshua Konyi, “– SBA01]: “We are exerting our efforts to ensure that we get seeds and cultivate so that we depend on ourselves instead of depending on international NGOs and agencies such as the World Food Program and others.”

Mr. Konyi urged the communities of greater Pibor to live peacefully together.

He called for implementation of the peace agreement signed by the national government and the South Sudan Democratic Movement-Cobra faction led by General David Yau Yau.

Last week, the government and the South Sudan Democratic Movement Defense Army-Cobra Faction, led by General David Yau, Yau, signed a peace agreement in Addis Ababa.

The deal will also establish an independent administrative area for Greater Pibor area, and makes it autonomous from the Jonglei State administration.
