Local authorities in Central Equatoria State have launched separate infrastructure projects in South Sudan aimed at improving development and public services in Yei River and Morobo counties.

In Yei River County, authorities on Thursday launched the construction of the Kanjoro Bridge along the Lomuku One Newsite road to improve transport and connectivity in the area.

Speaking during the launch, Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo praised cooperation between communities, religious leaders, and local authorities, describing the initiative as a sign of unity and partnership in promoting development.

He pledged government support through the provision of construction materials and called for transparency and accountability in managing community contributions.

According to the bridge construction committee, the project is expected to improve movement between Yei River County and neighboring Lainya County, while helping residents, traders, and school children access markets and schools more easily.

Meanwhile in Morobo County, Commissioner Joseph Mawa John Okuba launched the construction of a county pavilion at Morobo Freedom Square.

Paramount Chief Naphtali Yakani described the pavilion as a long-awaited project that will help reduce the cost of hiring tents during public events and community gatherings.

Morobo County Executive Director Eziborn Gale commended efforts to support infrastructure development and called for quality implementation of the project.

Commissioner Joseph Mawa assured the implementing team of full cooperation and security during construction, saying infrastructure development remains a key priority of his administration.
