Security authorities in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State, have recovered stolen property belonging to Torit University, Torit Urban Water Supply Limited and several businesses following a robbery.
A statement posted on the Torit Mayor’s Facebook page said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) recovered items including solar panels, tables, mattresses, cupboards, chairs and other valuables believed to have been stolen from public institutions and private businesses.
The operation conducted on Friday, July 24, led to the arrest of several suspects who are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Caretaker Commissioner and Mayor of Torit County, Eddy William Ponsiano, praised the CID officers for the recovery, describing it as an important step in addressing crime in the municipality.
Ponsiano urged security personnel to intensify operations against criminal groups and maintain pressure on those involved in theft and other criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the county government’s commitment to improving security and protecting public property.
