Aweil runs out of drugs

Doctors at the Aweil State Hospital say there are no enough medicines at the facility and have called for intervention from non-governmental organizations.

The medical director of the hospital, Dr Juac Dut Wol, told Eye Radio that the hospital received some drugs from Juba as emergency consignment two weeks ago, but they were not enough.

Dr Juac says there is a particular need for more malaria drugs because what he calls the ‘malaria season’ is approaching.

“We are in need of drugs, especially the Malarial drugs; what we have is not even enough even for one month or three weeks,” Dr Wol said.

The Aweil State Hospital has also been receiving assistance from different NGOs working in health field since 2011.

Dr Juac says the medical charity, MSF, has been helping the hospital with power for 24 hours daily using generators.

He appeals to other NGOs to help in supplying more medicines.
