Some artists and fans have raised around one million South Sudanese pounds to pay medical bills of ailing singer Mizaya Emmy, who was admitted last week.

Emmy, a singer and songwriter, was hospitalized with urinary tract complications, only two months after he recovered from a related infection.

On Thursday, artists, comedians and fans contributed more than 150 thousand pounds to fund the costly treatment and rescue the life of singer Emmy.

His colleague Isaac Lumori, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the comedy event Kil-kilu Ana, said Thursday’s edition of the show was dedicated to raising money for hospital bills.

“Mizaya Emmy is a public figure and there is no need to hide a complication like that in case something bad happens, we will be questioned by the public,” said Lumori whose stage name is MC Lumoex.

He adds: “So, that is why we are doing fundraising here (in Nyakuron Cultural center).”

Emmy was rushed back to the hospital after suffering urinary track infection, a condition he underwent surgery for, two months back.

“The doctors said he would heal within the next six months but before even one month, he started experiencing the same problem and has been going to the hospital since,” said MC Lumoex.

Emmy, who is also associated with a record label owned by singer Silver X is said to have been experiencing complications with his urinal since 2019.

According to sources close to the singer, the doctor only performed a partial surgery due to a lack of enough financial support to fund the full treatment.

Emmy is admitted at Maxicare Clinic in Hai Tarawa. His current situation is described as stable, although he is in critical need of financial support for the medical bills.

A group of celebrities including Mr Lengs, Rapper Lual, Lady Kola, and Promoter K2 also paid a visit to Mizaya Emmy at Maxicare clinic in Juba on Wednesday.
