Governor Koang calls for peace in Nasir ahead of elections

The Governor of Upper Nile State, James Koang Chuol, has called on communities in Nasir County to embrace peace and reconciliation ahead of the 2026 General Elections.
Governor Koang made the call during a peace rally in Nasir on Thursday, where he engaged grassroots communities on the upcoming elections and the reopening of the Sobat corridor.
He called for lasting peace, reconciliation and development in Nasir County as the country approaches the polls.
The governor also emphasized the importance of peace in promoting agricultural activities and ensuring the free and peaceful movement of goods along the Sobat River.
The Governor’s office says the visit is part of his peace mobilization efforts and engagement with communities in the county.
Governor Koang was accompanied by the State Minister of Health, the SPLM State Secretary, the Mayor of Malakal City Council and the SPLM Women’s League Chairperson.
