Authorities in Warrap state say organized forces are on high alert at the boundary with Unity over reported movements of armed militias towards Warrap.

On Friday, the Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Ateny Wek, said armed men were mobilizing in areas of Unity. He said they were planning to attack Warrap.

Warrap state deputy governor, Aketch Tong Aleu, told Eye Radio that security forces have been deployed at the state boundary to maintain security.

“We got the information from the Commissioner of Mayendit that these people are mobilizing and they want to attack us,” said Mr Aketch.

“So, we told the organized forces along the boundary to remain on maximum alert.”

Mr. Aketch said the organized forces have been instructed not to move towards Unity state but to remain alert at the boundary between the two states.
