The Minister of Agriculture says the national army, SPLA, should be separated from the ruling party, SPLM, to avoid recurrence of violence in the country.

Dr Lam Akol says failure of the SPLM to create an inclusive army that is independent of the party caused the December 2013 crisis.
“The first thing that must be done is; we have a national army that reflect the diversity of country and which has nothing to do with any political organization. Yes the current SPLA became part of it, but also, you must recruit new people on the basis of reflecting all parts of the country,” he said, speaking during Eye Radio.
“We should be more concerned about our sovereignty and borders instead of inward looking”.
