The Spokesperson of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF), Major General Lul Ruai Koang, has described the late journalist Emmanuel Joseph Akile as a figure whose impact on South Sudan’s media landscape will not be erased.
Speaking during a memorial service held in Juba to honor the life and work of the late journalist, Major General Lul Ruai said Akile’s contribution went far beyond routine journalism.
“Emmanuel was an epitome of modern journalism in South Sudan,” Major General Lul Ruai said.
He described Akile as a media trailblazer who used his platform to inform, educate, and connect the public with key national institutions.
“Emmanuel Akile was a media trailblazer. He lived an impactful life and left a mark that will not be erased from South Sudan’s media landscape and beyond,” he added.
Major General Lul Ruai also highlighted Akile’s influential role as the presenter of The Dawn Show on Eye Radio, describing him as one of the most consequential voices on the program.
“Emmanuel Akile was the most consequential presenter of The Dawn Show on Eye Radio. He helped spread military news, and I found in him a reliable channel through which announcements could be made,” Lul Ruai noted.
Emmanuel Joseph Akile is remembered for his professionalism, commitment to public service, and unwavering dedication to amplifying national issues through responsible journalism.
