About 60,000 pupils are sitting for their Primary Leaving Examination across South Sudan on Monday morning.

The candidates including 28,575 males and 30,908 females are scheduled to sit for the exams from November 20-24, 2023.

The figure has seen an increase of about 6,000 pupils in comparison to the 53,000 candidates who sat in the academic year 2022-2023.

According to announcement made by the National Examinations Council last month, girls are more than boys by over 2,000 pupils.

Deputy Minister Martin Tako called on invigilators and the security organs to curb irregularities in the Primary and Secondary school national examinations.

He also said the security organs should provide a secure and conducive environment for the conduct of the exams.
