Heads of cattle being driven elsewhere in South Sudan

Five youth have been arrested in connection with a cattle raid, in which 11 people were killed in a remote village early this year according to officials in Gok State in the former Lakes.

The youth are suspected of taking part in the raid between two villages in Malou-pec administrative unit in January.
The unit is one of several others established by the state governor to act as counties after the creation of more states.
“So I have arrested them and they are in prison in Malou-pech. They are in prison now to face justice so that they will be fined and they will be back to prison. They will be detained in Malou-pech until their level of crime is determined by the justice,” Machuoc Mayol, the senior administrator in the area said.

Mr Machuoch told Eye Radio that some of the cattle that were stolen in the raid were returned to their rightful owners last week.
