’10 days of activism’ begins in Juba

Civil society groups have launched 10 days of activism to mark the first anniversary of the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan.

The agreement was signed by Dr Riek Machar on the 18th August 2015, meanwhile President Salva Kiir signed it on the 26th of the same month.

The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, Edmond Yakani, says the event aims at building momentum to demand effective implementation of the Peace Agreement

He said the civil society organizations and international partners will use social media and radio talk shows to advocate for peace during the ten days.

Mr Yakani said the civil society organizations will also choose a national figure that will be awarded as a peace winner.
