Yei River county government says it has not received its share of $10 million-subsidized goods the national government imported recently.
The first batch of goods imported from Uganda arrived in Juba last month.
Ivory and Alpha banks each received $5 million to import the goods on behalf of the government.
The goods were meant to be distributed to the states in an attempt to reduce shortage of goods.
“Till today, the people of Yei at large have not received any commodity imported by the company concern,” said Jacob Taban, acting chairman for the county chamber of commerce.
“As per now, the population of Yei has doubled compared to the previous years. We really demand the government to distribute the services to all the people of South Sudan.”
Efforts to reach the ministry of trade and commerce have not been successful.
The subsidized commodities include wheat flour, maize flour, milk, oil, rice, beans, and amongst others.
