The UN Women group is calling for the empowerment of women in South Sudan.
The Deputy Country Representative of UN WOMEN says no country around the world has achieved gender equality, despite progress made by women.
Yahaya Issaka Balima says violations of the rights of women and girls are still on the increase.
He said the typical woman is still in danger.
“We must ensure that she is safe and secure from gender-based violence, she has human rights that are respected, including reproductive rights,” said Mr Balima.
“She is empowered economically and in every way through education, equal education, equal opportunity, participation and leadership.
“This the imperative to which I call on you to commit. Let us all cross the line and stand on the right side of history in leadership.”
Mr. Isaka said advancing equal opportunity and removing structural barriers to women would improve economic growth in South Sudan.
Last year, the UN WOMEN formed strategic plans to empower women in the country economically by engaging them in entrepreneurship.
