New website memorializing lost ones

A memorial website honoring victims of civil wars from 1955 to 2013, has been launched.

The website – www.rememberingoneswelost.com – is aimed at bringing to public attention, the names of those who died during the conflicts.

The initiative will mostly target civilian heroes and heroines of the civil wars.

“This project is designed for one purpose: to honor the memory of each person who has died or gone missing during conflict in South Sudan,” reads a statement on the website.

“They were fathers, brothers, mothers, sisters and children. Each of them cherished by their families and communities. They are the people killed or missing in the conflicts that have ravaged South Sudan since August 1955.”

According to the website management, anyone can participate by submitting the name of someone who is lost or by offering a memorial tribute.

It is being spearheaded by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization and South Sudan Law Society.
