A high-level delegation from Warrap State Government visited Tonj East County on Saturday, meeting local leaders and communities to support peace, security, and development initiatives.

The team was led by Security Advisor John Mayiik Bath, Cabinet Affairs Minister Safarino Phillip Bazia, and General Garang Mabil Deng.

At Wunlit Payam, officials paid tribute to the 1999 Wunlit Peace Conference and called on the community to continue dialogue and peaceful coexistence.

At Mayen-Ador, the delegation discussed security and reconciliation with local leaders and encouraged the community to support youth-led development projects.

Commissioner Machuei thanked the state government for the visit and said Tonj East remains committed to the peace process. Community members pledged cooperation with the authorities to maintain security.

The 1999 Wunlit Peace Conference is seen as one of the region’s most successful grassroots peace initiatives. The visit highlighted its relevance for current efforts to resolve conflicts and promote harmony in the county.
