Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga has called on women to actively participate in the upcoming elections, saying their involvement is vital to strengthening the democratic process.

Dr. Igga, who is the Vice President for Service Cluster, said women have greater rights in the December polls than at any other time in the nation’s history.

He said women have long been placed in secondary roles, adding that their full participation in the elections will play a crucial role in strengthening the country.

“Our women must have more rights in these elections. Our women must have more rights in these elections than any other time. And they have suffered in being in a secondary position. But our government will put our women in the forefront. The participation of our women enriches our democracy and strengthens our nation,” he said.

Dr. Igga made the remarks during the official launch of the civic and voter education campaign in Juba this morning.

The civic and voter education campaign marks the start of pre-election activities ahead of the polls scheduled for December 22, 2026.
