The National Examination Council has announced the results of the Certificate of Primary Examinations for the year 2022 with Unity State named the best performed State in the Country.
Jonglei State follows Unity but is the best-performed school with the best male student while Central Equatoria State takes the best female in the country.
Agok Thuch Mading Agok, a male student from Alpha Junior Academy in Jonglei State has emerged as the best candidate countrywide, scoring a total mark of 438.
Aduk Lual Awuol Ngong from the Venus Star Academy Goroyo Primary School in Central Equatoria falls second best countrywide, but the top best female candidate with a total mark of 437.
The nationwide results indicate that social studies were the best-performed subject representing 80 percent of the passing rate.
Islamic Religious Education is the least-performed subject at the rate of 53.7 percent.
Of 60, 831 candidates registered for the examination, 34,528 were males, and 26,303 were females.
According to the result, male candidates slightly outperformed female candidates with 95.4 percent compared to 92.9 percent.
The council says out of the 34,528 male candidates, nearly to thousand failed while out of 26,303 females, only 24,187 passed.
The result was announced this afternoon by Martin Tako the Deputy Minister of General Education and Instructions at the end of the 16th ordinary meeting of the council.
“The overall percentage of those who passed is 64.3%. 95.4 percent are male, 92.9 are female and the total percentage of pass marks is 94.3,” said Martin.
“On the performance of the various subjects this year the best-performed subject is social studies with 80 percent followed by science with 74.3,
“On the performance by the states, number one is Unity State 78.9 percent followed by Jonglei State.”
He went on to say the exams were affected by a natural disaster that displaced locals from their home areas.
“Last year, we had students who performed very well in mathematics, this year it has dropped and instead it is the social studies,” said Martin.
“There may be many reasons one of the reasons we have already explained here is displacement because of flood disasters and many other circumstances that contributed to this,
“Islamic religious we have discussed this, they have a few teachers and some of them decided to sit for Christin Religious Education in order to earn a certificate not to pass.”
