The Ministry of Health in Unity State has launched a mass cholera vaccination campaign in Rubkona County to help contain the ongoing outbreak.
The campaign is being carried out in four locations: Bentiu Town, Rubkona Town, Bentiu IDP Camp and Budang-Roriak.
According to the Ministry, the exercise began yesterday. Health teams are intensifying field operations through supportive supervision and mop-up activities to ensure full coverage of all targeted populations.
County Health Director for Rubkona County, Dor Gai Patai, said vaccination teams are actively deployed across all designated sites. He stressed that the cholera vaccine is safe and remains the most effective protection against the disease.
He encouraged community members who have not yet been vaccinated to visit the nearest vaccination centres.
The vaccination campaign is being supported by partners including the World Health Organization, UNICEF, GOAL, the International Rescue Committee, Concern Worldwide, and Médecins Sans Frontières.
