Uganda agrees to reduce visa fee

Uganda has agreed to reduce visa fee from $100 to $50 this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

Earlier this month, the Ugandan authorities increased the fees from $50 to $100 without informing South Sudan.

The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affair, Mawien Makol, says the officials from foreign ministries of the two countries met on Tuesday, and agreed to reduce the fees.

“It has been very bad for the people who are moving there, and the minister said they are working to reduce the price as it used to be because that decision was actually done without the knowledge of the people in charge of this issue in the parliament there in Uganda,” Amb Makol told Eye Radio.

Amb Makol said the changes will be effective within two to three days.
