Two killed, four injured in ambush on mourners along Lui–Juba Road

Two people have been killed and four others injured after a vehicle carrying mourners was attacked by unidentified gunmen along the Lui–Juba Road in Mundri East County.

The Commissioner of Mundri East County, Daite Mathew, said the attack occurred on Monday between Lui and Jambo as the vehicle was returning to Juba after a funeral.

He confirmed that two women were shot dead during the ambush, while four other passengers sustained injuries.

“There is a vehicle carrying people going back to Juba after a burial. They fell in an ambush near Doro. Two people were killed and four were injured. After the incident, forces were deployed to the scene and they identified the bodies of the two women killed and those four injured. Investigation is ongoing,” Commissioner Daite said.

The commissioner said county authorities responded immediately after receiving reports of the attack, with security forces deployed to the area as investigations continue.
