Traders should import malarial drugs which have descriptions only in English or Arabic, the National Bureau of Standards has announced.

The Executive Director for the Bureau, Mary Gordon, says some traders bring medicines that don’t match with country’s standards.

“We have found drugs written in Chinese and this is not supposed to enter South Sudan. Anything written in languages we don’t understand. We are supposed to not use it,” Ms Gordon said.

She warned that such drugs have side effects on people who use them for medication.

“Don’t use malarial drugs that are not written in English or Arabic at all. Even you doctors don’t use the drug you don’t know or you cannot read,” she added.

Last week, the Bureau of Standards launched campaigns in the markets which resulted in seizure of large quantities of expired goods in the shops.
