Sabuni accepts new Presidential Advisor post

The former Minister of Finance, Aggrey Tisa Sabuni says he accepts his appointment as the Advisor to the president on Economic Affairs.

He was relieved as minister on a presidential decree yesterday.

You know working as a Minister of Finance or any other ministry for that matter is really an assignment not a job. So you do the assignment at the pleasure of the person giving the assignment or to the pleasure of the appointing authority. So it is not a permanent job,” he said.

Tisa was replaced by David Deng Athorbei, who served as Minister of Finance and Economic Planning following the independence of South Sudan in 2011.

“I am extremely grateful to the president for having considered me worthy of being given the assignment of heading the ministry of Finance and Economic planning and at one time incorporating the ministry of Trade.”
