Three wounded in Unity State road ambush

Three people were wounded on Thursday after unidentified gunmen waylaid a vehicle in Mayom County of Unity State, an official said.

Kupal Keah, Director General in the state Ministry of Information said the incident occurred at 6:00 PM when a truck destined for Mayom was attacked in Rotriah- Kai-kang Road.

“After unloading the commercial load, the driver decided to head to Mayom, and, at 6:pm, unfortunately, they were attacked by armed men at Ngol-Rotriah junction near the bridge,” he said.

Keah said the vehicle was carrying 15 passengers.

He stated that the wounded have been admitted to Mayom County Primary Health Care Center for treatment.

“Three people were injured, and they are receiving treatment at Mayom Hospital, and no deaths case. The authorities sent a security organ to search for the attackers. This is the first time such a case happened here.”

The official said, following the attack, a security force was sent to comb the area.
