Why S Sudan premier league was postponed

The South Sudan Football Association has indefinitely postponed the South Sudan Premier League due to financial constraints, an official has said.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the organizing committee, Sebit Makor, the association is broke.

“We don’t have money to run the costs of the tournament. So we are calling it off indefinitely,” Makor told reporters Monday.

The tournament had been scheduled to kick off today, with Atlabara playing Nasir of Yei.

In a related development, the teams that were meant to take part in the premier league have not arrived in Juba.

Nasir FC From Yei, Malakia FC from Torit, and Koryom FC from Bor by yesterday evening had not touched down in Juba.

Meanwhile, members of South Sudan Olympic Committee are in Qatar for the Association of National Olympic Committee’s General Assembly, which commences on Wednesday.

The three-man team representing the country is led by the President of the Committee, Wilson Deng Kuoirot, Secretary General Tong Chor Malek Deran, and Adrea Abdallah, Committee member.

The IOC has also approved the Olympic Solidarity 2017-2020 Olympiad Plan during a meeting chaired by IOC President, Thomas Bach.

The Olympic Solidarity development and assistance budget approved amounts to $ 509,285,000, which is expected to be distributed to the NOCs.

Therefore the South Sudan Olympic Committee is set to receive $247,225.
