The Sudanese government says it is providing aid assistance to over 12,000 South Sudanese who have sought refuge in Sudan.
Most civilians from Greater Upper Nile have fled to White Nile and Southern Khordofan states of Sudan.
South Sudan’s ambassador to Sudan Mayen Dut told Eye Radio that humanitarian organizations are working with the Sudanese government to provide food to the South Sudanese who are living in Sudan.
The Sudanese Minister of Information, Hamed Bilal Osman, told Eye Radio that the Sudanese government is allowing free movement for the South Sudanese in the country.
Mr. Bilal said Sudan will not open refugee camps for South Sudanese so they can integrate into Sudanese states.
“We are making it easy for them to move,” he added. “What is important for us is that most of them have arrived in Khartoum, but some of them are sick and wounded, and hungry.”
In December, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said in Juba that the South Sudanese can travel freely and live in Sudan during the crisis.
