SSWEN talks on Constitution

An activist is calling for the permanent constitution to be passed before the presidential elections which is due to take place by 2015. The Director of South Sudan Women Empowerment Network, Palek Mathiew told Eye Radio that it is important for the country to first have a permanent constitution.

Miss Palek also said that the expected constitution of South Sudan must be based on democracy and a proper judicial system. Recently the Chairperson of the Constitution Review Commission, Akolda Ma’an Tier announced that with the current financial situation, the awaited permanent constitution for South Sudan cannot be ready before elections. Mister Akolda also said that the constitution making process is not tied to the General elections.
