South Sudan African National Union party says it supports the postponement of the general elections and the extension until 2017.

In February, the Council of Ministers postponed the general elections that were scheduled for June 30^th and extended the term of the government for two years.

MPs in the national parliament are discussing the proposal to amend the constitution and extend the mandate.

“My chairman put it before that we all have agreed that we have to wait until all situation comes to normal and we have to move forward with our President, the current president, with no elections for some period that we have given him,” said Jackline Apath, chairperson of women of the South Sudan National African Union party.
