SPLM-IO team attends donor conference

The SPLM in Opposition says it has sent a delegation to the United States for a donor conference on South Sudan.

The conference aims at raising funds to improve the economy during the transitional period.

It started on Monday this week, in Washington DC, and will continue until the end of the week.

The SPLMIO says its delegation to the conference is made up of economic experts.

It is being led by Stanislaus Lumumba Di Aping, the chairperson of the National Committee for Human Resource Development in the Opposition.

“The SPLM-IO is a signatory to the agreement that is why they are going to participate. The SPLM in the government, the Former Detainees and other political parties have also been invited,” SPLM-IO Advance Team Spokesman William Ezekiel told Eye Radio.

The other groups are yet to comment on their participation.

All parties to the peace agreement earlier issued a joint appeal requesting the International Monetary Fund to intervene in handling in the economic challenge in the country.

They called upon the IMF to come and assess the economy and help in designing a recovery plan.
