The SPLA says it is introducing up to 20 public transport vehicles along the Juba-Nimule road to reduce accidents.

The vehicles are from the Bonga Bus Company, which is owned and run by the department of Military Economic Corporation.

The company already has 20 passenger buses in the public transport sector within Juba.

“In the field of transportation there is a very big gap. The transporters that are there are making a lot of accidents because they are searching for money and we are losing a lot of lives,” Kuol Manyang, Minister of Defense, told Eye Radio after the launch of the new buses this afternoon.

“So, we decided to enter this field so as to correct the behavior of the other companies; to promote security – not to be on business basis but on the service basis.”

Mr Manyang says the Bonga Bus operates under the regulations governing the private sector.
