SPLA says it’ll eliminate activities of LRA

The SPLA Army says it is determined to help regional forces eliminate activities of the Lord’s Resistance Army from the region.

South Sudan and Uganda are part of the Regional Task Force based in Western Equatoria state mandated to hunt rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army in the area.

Speaking to Eye Radio, the SPLA Army Spokesperson Colonel Phillip Aguer confirmed that Colonel Samuel Kangul, a top Commander and fourth in the chain of LRA leadership, has been killed by a joint force led by the Uganda army in Central African Republic.

“It was a serious battle,” said Col Aguer, “and some weapons have been captured…but I don’t have the details on the number of weapons captured.”

“And some other war equipment has been captured by the taskforce that is hunting for this regional terrorist organization called LRA.”

Colonel Aguer also said that the SPLA will use any means, peaceful or forceful, to drive out the LRA.

The Joint Task Force hunting the LRA rebels in Central African Republic is being supported by American forces.
