The SPLA has confirmed that there have been clashes between government forces and forces of the SPLM-in Opposition in Duk County, Jonglei state.
On Tuesday, the SPLA-in Opposition forces claimed to have captured the County headquarters from the government forces.
SPLA spokesperson, Colonel Philip Aguer also confirmed that the government forces moved out of Duk.
“The fighting has been continuing and they occupied Duk Padiet and another Payam south of Duk Padiet in their attempt to advance towards Bor area but the SPLA forces are monitoring their movements and they will be repulsed anytime.”
The Commissioner of Duk Padiet told Eye Radio ‘Sundown program’ from Twic East that the fighting has displaced people in to the neighboring Counties.
Commissioner Elijah Monynhom said the County headquarters has been deserted.
“The rebels have attacked the Payam of Duk Padiet and occupied the Payam center. Until now, they are still in center of Duk Padiet Payam.”
