South Sudan to host Bureau of EAC Speakers meeting

South Sudan is set to host the 16th meeting of the East African Community Bureau Speakers in Juba, on Thursday.

Makuc Makuc Ngong, the Clerk of the National Legislative Assembly, said the East African Community Bureau of National Legislatures and the East African Legislative Assembly will kick off tomorrow, in Juba.

Makuc said that the meeting which began on Tuesday discussed a number of issues of concern to East African parliaments.

Makuc, who is also the chair of clerks of the East African Parliaments, said that the meeting will adopt the agendas that will be discussed during the meeting of speakers of East African parliaments.

“We are preparing the ground of mentation for the 16th meeting of East Africa Community Bureau of Speakers that will take place tomorrow,” he told Eye Radio.

“We will have a meeting of the Bureau of East Africa Community Speakers so we are just winding up our preparatory meeting for the resolution that will be passed by the Bureau of Speakers tomorrow.”

He spoke on the sidelines of the East African Parliaments Clerks’ Meeting currently being held in Juba.

Currently, Jemma Nunu Kumba is the chair of the EAC Bureaus of Speakers.

According to Makuc, she will hand over the chair of the EAC Bureau of Speakers to the Republic of Tanzania.

The 16th meeting of the Bureau of EAC Speakers of National Legislatures and the East African Legislative Assembly will select a new chair of the bureau.

The meeting will also adopt the reports during the forum which will involve EALA, the secretariat, and clerks.

The speakers of the assembly legislators from South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi are expected to participate in the meeting.
