‘Focus’ by Single Dee, a melodious love anthem has become the most trending South Sudanese song on Tiktok in its three weeks of release.

The single, which came out late in December has collected more 11,000 Tik-Tok video posts and 15 thousand YouTube views.

“Focus” has gone viral and resonates with the love life of young people. But the RnB singer said he actually wrote the song about his family.

“I am very happy to have written this song because it is about my family. When I wrote it, I did not actually think that anyone would like it,” he said in an interview with Eye Radio.

“It is about all the good things that have been going on in my family, and I wanted them to know that I think about them everyday,” he said.

The song has also become the most requested song at Eye Radio’s Soundtrack Show, as well as in many radio stations across the country.

Single Dee, whose real name is Deng James, discovered his music talent in 2009 as a member of a school band.

He had joined the University of Nairobi as a student of Medicines in 2010, but he later dropped out due to lack of financial support as the conflict raged in his country.

In 2017, officially established himself as a singer and evolved with a couple of notable songs including the release of “About to go down” later that year.

Single Dee won three awards in 2018, including the best RnB Artiste and the Best Song of the Year and Best Artiste of the Year by South Sudan Talent Youth Award.

“For now, I feel so grateful for the love my South Sudanese have shown me especially the ladies. This song went viral because of you, not my voice. I have not yet tasted the sweetness of it, but am enjoying the fact people are loving it,” he said.

Single Dee has over 4,000 YouTube subscribers, 29,000 Tik-Tok followers and 25,000 Facebook followers.
