Seeds and fishing kits to be distributed

The British aid minister says the British government is to provide seeds and fishing kits to families in South Sudan to avert a possible hunger crisis.

They should reach farmers before the rainy season begins at the end of April.

The International Development Secretary Justine Greening says the grant of more than thirteen million US dollars will help almost four hundred thousand people feed themselves for a year.

Forty thousand families will be provided with either seeds to grow staple crops or vegetables or hooks and lines to catch fish.

The aid will also provide vaccinations to keep 80 families’ cattle healthy for a month, and securing the health of livestock in South Sudan.
