“I am delighted to have been nominated and won this award. It is a win for women all over the world and South Sudan in particular. It is also a win for my beloved country South Sudan. As a result, I dedicate this award to the people of South Sudan and especially women”, she said.

She added that her participation through her company Triple-A Petroleum Ltd has greatly enhanced the image of South Sudan as a peaceful and stable country ready to welcome foreign investors.

“During the event, my team interacted with a lot of investors who are keen to come to South Sudan. However, many of them expressed concerns due to fighting in the country but we convinced them that South Sudan is not at war and that South Sudan is stable and open for investment”, she added.

She also called on women to take an active role in the Oil and Gas Industry instead of just leaving it to men to run the show.

Ms. Atong also advocated for a progressive and gradual transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy as a way of saving the world from the adverse effects of Climate Change.
