Quarreling peace negotiators should be ‘reshuffled’ – official

The Deputy Speaker of the Council of States says the representatives of the government and the opposition are responsible for the delay of the peace talks.

Clement Janda says the negotiating teams should be changed to speed up the peace process.

“From January 2014 up to today, there are two persons prominent on either side in the peace talks: Nhial Deng and Michael Makuei [on the side of the government] and on the other side id Taban Deng Gai and someone else. The two have been quarreling at each other for one and half years now and we don’t seem to think of reshuffling that process,” Mr Janda stated.

My sincere statement and the Lord is my witness is that the next session from the 8th of June will be the same as the past ones, because the four people have learned to do nothing but insulting each other all this time.”

Mr Janda called for a reshuffle.

“I am serious,” he continued, “if we want to make a change, we need to reshuffle our team; we need to reshuffle our team and bring people who would bring slightly a different approach to the IGAD process.”
