President Salva Kiir has directed SPLM chairpersons in the states and administrative areas to begin mobilizing members and prepare the party for the country’s planned elections.

The President made the call at the close of a five-day SPLM Leadership Summit that brought together party chairpersons from the states and administrative areas.

Kiir said the meeting had achieved its objective of generating ideas to strengthen the party’s governance structures.

“The purpose of this meeting was to generate ideas that can shape the governance structure of our movement. I am confident that your discussions have achieved this objective,” he said.

The President said the resolutions adopted during the conference would provide a solid foundation for the party’s national convention and the drafting of its election manifesto.

He urged party leaders returning to their respective areas to begin preparations for the elections.

“You must carry the message of election readiness to the ground. Go and mobilize our people and drive the SPLM membership registration,” Kiir told the party officials.

The conference brought together SPLM chairpersons from the states and administrative areas to discuss the party’s organizational structures and preparations ahead of the planned elections.
