President Salva Kiir on Thursday issued a Republican decree relieving Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Governor Simon Ober Mawut from his duties.
The announcement was broadcast on South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) television and radio on Thursday evening.
In a separate decree, the President appointed Charles Dut Akol as the new governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.
President Kiir extended his appreciation to the outgoing governor for his service and conveyed his best wishes to the incoming governor as he assumes his new responsibilities.
Simon Uber Ajonga Mawut had served as governor since June 2024, following his appointment to the position.
