Police to launch an emergency call center on July 9

The Ministry of Interior has signed a memorandum of understanding with the telecom operators to establish an Emergency Call Center in Juba next month.

The Emergency call Center is meant for the public to easily access the police in times of emergencies.

Addressing journalists in Juba today, the Deputy Inspector of Police, Lt General Andrew Kuol Nyuon said the center will be launched on the 9th of July.

“We’re appealing to the Mayor and the Commissioner of Juba to hurry up with the naming of the roads such that it makes it easy for the police to respond quickly to calls from the public,” he said.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Engineer Juma Stephen Luga, said the call center is very vital for the services of the people.

“It’ll do the purpose of serving the citizen; they will be calling the center using the code and that code actually will reach the operators whether they are calling through Vivacell, MTN, Zain or Gemtel, they will reach the center.

The code number is 777.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Mister Philip Busumire said the establishment of this center will greatly help the community.
