Police: 3 dead, 22 injured from Juba Nimule road ambush

One person has succumbed to injuries bringing the total death toll to three, in the Monday morning ambush along Juba-Nimule road, the police confirmed.

Police Spokesperson Major General Daniel Justin said 22 others have been wounded as a result of a heavy gunfire and a car crash.

General Justin narrated that three vehicles – a Bongo bus, a Golden Line bus, and a toyota Noah descended into an ambush between Nyerjebe and Odemo villages on Monday.

“They fell into an ambush as a result, three people lost their lives and another 22 people got wounded,” said the official.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Tuesday, Justin said those killed are two women and a man.

Two Ugandans are also among the 22 injured, and they have been rushed to their country for further treatment.

“The wounded were escorted to Juba plus the bodies and two Ugandan were taken to Uganda for treatment.”

General Justin said the police and military forces arrived at the crime scene following the attack, and found out that the attackers used AK-47s and were armed in green military uniforms.
