Lack of teaching materials has affected learning in Pibor Secondary School, a Boma State government official has told Eye Radio.
As a result of the violence that broke out in 2013 between the government and Cobra faction, Pibor Secondary School, which was operating in the area, was relocated to Juba for safety.
The school administration was relocated to Pibor in 2014, and since then, the school has been experiencing shortage of teaching materials.
Education’s Minister Simon Korton says the textbooks that belong to the school were retained in Bor during 2013 distribution, but unfortunately later destroyed during the December 2013 violence.
Korton says the secondary school did not open this year due to lack of school materials and insecurity in the state.
“To teach a person….you need to have a book. So we are still collecting some materials from other schools in Juba,” he said.
Boma State Secondary School has more than 200 students and 17 teachers.
