Pibor Area to mark county boundary lines

Authorities in Pibor Administrative Area will demarcate the boundaries between all the counties to prevent any conflicts over land.

The Peace Adviser in Pibor, John Thwan, says they will form a committee to do the work, starting with the boundary between Pochalla South and Boma counties.

He says border demarcation was one of the resolutions of a peace conference for all the communities in Pibor last week.

The meeting also discussed cattle raiding and child abduction in the area and the neighboring communities.

“We all agreed that if the cattle eat the crops or destroy the crops, they will count the losses and then the farmer will be compensated with a heifer or cow,” Mr Thwan said.

He added that abductors of children will be prosecuted by a civil court in the area.

He said the meeting also resolved that bride price should be reduced to between 42 and 45 cows.
