SPLM in Opposition has selected 50 Members of Parliament who will represent it in the upcoming national parliament.

The list is based on the previous 10 states.

“We abide by the 10 states even if the government does not want the 10 states,” said James Gatdet, spokesperson of the leader of opposition, Dr. Riek Machar.

According to the list, 24 MPs come from Upper Nile region, 14 from Equatoria, and 12 from Bahr el Ghazal.

Mr Gatdet added that, if the government rejects the list, then the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission and other stakeholders will find a way forward.

The government is yet to comment on the list of the SPLM-IO members of parliament.
