Norway to host a donor conference for S Sudan in May

The Norwegian government says it will host a donor conference for South Sudan next month.

At the request of the United Nations, Norway will host a conference in Oslo of contributing nations to discuss the security situation in South Sudan.

“The aim of the conference will be to mobilize resources for the people affected by the conflict,” Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende told the media.

Mr. Brende said more funds are needed to provide lifesaving assistance to the IDPs and refugees in the neighboring countries.

He said that Norway has allocated about 1$7 million for humanitarian needs in South Sudan.
