The chairperson of Information Committee in the National Legislative Assembly says they will formulate laws that punish people, who spread rumors in the country.
Following the outbreak of the conflict in December last year, rumors have been circulating in the country.
Last month, there were rumors that President Salva Kiir was planning to remove the governors of the three states of Equatoria from the office for campaigning for federalism.
“Rumors are dangerous than guns because they affect people in many ways, that is why we need Laws on security information, and the laws will be there, so that any person who spread false information will be between truth and falsehood,” Hon. Thomas Wani Kundu, told Eye Radio.
“They are bad for our community. The Parliament is against rumors.”
Hon Kundu said the parliament is discussing the budget, and after that they will begin discussing this issue.
