NLA debates a bill to increase taxes on luxury goods

The National Parliament says it is working on a bill to increase taxes on luxury goods to increase government revenues.

Goch Makuach, chairperson of the committee of Economy, Development and Finance in the national assembly, told Eye Radio that basic goods will be exempted from taxation.

“We are going to increase taxes on luxury good goods like alcohol, cigarettes and even the motor bikes,” Hon Makuach said.

Hon Makuach added that the parliament will pass the bill into law soon.
